Website Prices

The first question most people ask is, "How much does it cost to build a website?". The answer, however, is never straight forward and depends on many factors. For example, if you require a specific and unique design to your pages then that will require graphic design time. If you wish to be able to edit and update your content yourself then that will require the development and/or adaptation of a content management system (CMS). Not opting for a CMS will mean paying for any future updates to your website content should the need arise. So, once your actual requirements have been established, it will then become easier to give you an accurate idea of the cost.

That said, we have a package whereby we can build you a basic website for £225+VAT. For that you will get a simple static template layout (no CMS), using colours and images of your choice and 3 or 4 pages to cover areas such as the introductory home page, some informational pages and a contact page. The site will be built to our normal high quality of coding, including all code and SEO optimisation. You will be required to provide the main textual content and any company-specific logos you have in electronic form (Word documents, jpg images, etc). Yes, there are cheaper packages out there but, to be honest, you'd be better off spending that money on a sandwich board.

On top of the design and development costs you will also need to allow for regular monthly and/or annual fees for your domain name and website hosting (the space you rent on the internet). Typically you can expect to pay around £5-10 per year for .co.uk and .com domains or upto as much as £20 for the less popular domains ending in .org or .biz etc.

Hosting can cost as little as a couple of pounds per month, but does depend on the size of your website and how busy it becomes. Providers charge for the bandwidth your site uses, usually in blocks, so a busy site can quickly use up a lot of bandwidth and may have to be upgraded to the next bandwidth allocation. This is something we can advise you on when planning your website.
